Flagship private data-extraction tool

Convert a bank statement or PDF table to CSV

PDF to CSV is built for text-based statements and tables where the goal is editable spreadsheet data, not a picture of the page. Extraction runs in your browser, and you can review the detected rows before downloading the CSV.

Best candidates for extraction

Digitally generated bank statements, card statements, invoices, transaction reports, and consistent tabular reports normally work better than scans. Selectable text is a useful sign that the PDF contains extractable characters.

Review before importing

Compare dates, negative values, decimal places, balances, headers, and totals against the original PDF. A CSV is convenient for sorting and reconciliation, but extraction should never be treated as automatically perfect.

Scanned statement? Know the limitation

A photographed or scanned statement is usually an image. This converter does not perform OCR, so image-only pages may produce little or no usable table data. OCR the document first with an appropriate tool, then return to the CSV workflow if needed.

  1. 1Choose a text-based PDF statement or table.
  2. 2Review and correct the extracted rows and columns.
  3. 3Download CSV and verify important values against the source.

Questions about this workflow

Can I convert a bank statement PDF to CSV?

Yes, when the statement contains extractable text and a layout the parser can interpret. Always verify the resulting rows against the original statement.

Are financial documents uploaded?

No. Supported extraction runs locally in the browser; BetterThanPDF does not receive the document contents.

Why does a scanned statement fail?

A scan is generally an image and requires OCR before text/table extraction. This tool intentionally does not claim to OCR image-only PDFs.

Can I open the CSV in Excel or Numbers?

Yes. CSV is a common spreadsheet interchange format, but column formatting may need adjustment after import.
